Hit and Run Witnesses Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is asking anyone with information about a hit and run to come forward.
At approximately 12:15am on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, officers were called by EMS about a man who appeared to be the victim of a hit and run incident in the Brock Street and Bethune Street area.
Through investigation, officers learned that the cyclist was struck by the vehicle in a parking lot before the vehicle fled the scene.
The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment and has since been taken to a Toronto area hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Weapons Arrest
A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Wednesday morning.
At approximately 11:15am on September 4, 2024, officers were called about a male in the Stewart Street and Edinburgh Street area striking a vehicle with a hatchet. Upon arrival, officers located a male nearby and approached him with their Conducted Energy Weapon drawn. The male was taken into custody without incident. A hatchet was located in the man’s belongings and seized.
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court October 15, 2024.
