Break and Enter Arrest
A 43-year-old Peterborough man is facing a break and enter charge after almost $10,000 in jewellery was taken from a residence earlier this week.
At approximately 3:00pm on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, officers were notified of a break and enter at a residence in the Barnardo Avenue and Sunset Boulevard area of Peterborough. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had entered the home and taken a jewellery box. Neighbours located the box, empty, in front of another residence. Through investigation officers were able to identify a suspect.
At approximately 3:50pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, officers with the Street Crime Unit spotted the suspect in the Sherbrooke Street and Brealey Drive area and he was taken into custody without incident. During a search after arrest, officers located some of the jewellery.
As a result, a 43-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Break and Enter a place to commit indictable offence
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, September 28, 2023.
Robbery Arrest
A 39-year-old Mississauga man is facing charges after an incident at a local business Tuesday evening.
At approximately 10:30pm on September 26, 2023, officers were called to a business in the High Street and Lansdowne Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male had told staff he had a knife and left without paying for items. Through investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect.
At approximately 5:50pm on September 27, 2023, officers received a call from the store that the man had returned but had not been allowed in and left. Upon arrival officers searched the area and a short time later spotted a man matching the description of the suspect and took him into custody without incident.
As a result, a 39-year-old Mississauga man was arrested and charged with:
- Robbery with Violence
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2
The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, September 28, 2023.
Theft Arrest
Two Peterborough men in their 30s are facing charges after a recent incident.
On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, officers were made aware a 12-gauge shotgun had been taken from a locked gun safe in a residence during a domestic incident. It’s believed the firearm was taken on Sunday, September 17, 2023. The gun safe was damaged during the incident.
As a result of the investigation,
A 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft under $5000
- Mischief under $5000
- Firearm Unauthorized Possession
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court October 17, 2023.
