Warrant Arrest

A 46-year-old Peterborough man wanted on several warrants was arrested Wednesday evening and is also facing new charges.

At approximately 9:50pm on June 28, 2023, a Canine officer on general patrol spotted the man riding a bicycle on Lansdowne Street in the area of The Parkway. The suspect refused to listen to officer commands to stop and attempted to flee from police. The officer was able to catch up to the suspect, draw their conducted energy weapon and deploy K9 Gryphon to help with the arrest. The suspect complied with the officers’ direction and was taken into custody without incident. A search of items the suspect was carrying revealed:

1 gram of Fentanyl
.3 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine
2 BB guns
1 conducted energy weapon
1 throwing star
1 switchblade
A backpack that was reported stolen June 24, 2023

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:

Unauthorized Possession of Weapon X3
Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin) (Fentanyl)
Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth)
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions to not possess any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, June 29, 2023.

Impaired Arrest

A 34-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after a single vehicle collision early Thursday morning.

At approximately 3:30am on June 29, 2023, officers on general patrol in the area of Water Street and Hunter Street heard a loud crashing noise. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that had struck the back of a parked truck, went onto the sidewalk and struck a building.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
Fail to notify change of address (Highway Traffic Act)
Fail to notify change of address – license (Highway Traffic Act)
Fail to have insurance card (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court July 25, 2023.

Assault Arrest

A 25-year-old Peterborough woman is facing several charges after an incident Wednesday morning.

At approximately 10:30am on June 28, 2023, officers were called to an office in the Chemong Road and Towerhill Road area after employees called about a client waving a knife and trying to get into a secure area. The suspect then left area in her vehicle before police arrived. Officers attended the suspect’s residence, and she was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Mischief Under $ 5,000
Assault with A Weapon
Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with the following conditions to not occupy the driver seat of any motor vehicle as defined by the Criminal Code

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on June 28, 2023.
