Weapons/Drug Arrest
A 22-year-old Toronto man is facing several charges after an incident on Wednesday evening.
At approximately 7:45pm on July 5, 2023, an officer on general patrol spotted two people crossing through live lanes of traffic and disobeying the pedestrian traffic signals. The officer stopped the pair and learned that the male wanted on a warrant from another jurisdiction. Based on that information, the male was taken into custody.
During a search after arrest officers located:
- Imitation Firearm (BB gun)
- 12.8 grams of Fentanyl
- .6 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine
- 4 grams of cocaine
- Drug paraphernalia
As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old Toronto man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
- Pedestrian fail to use cross-walk (Highway Traffic Act)
- Pedestrian disobey red light (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused is currently bound by an order with the following conditions to not possess firearms or prohibited weapons.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 6, 2023.
Weapons Arrest
A 17-year-old Peterborough male is facing charges after an incident Wednesday evening.
At approximately 9:40pm on July 5, 2023, officers on general patrol in the Park Street and Romaine Street area saw a cyclist with no bicycle lighting and going against traffic. The officers stopped the cyclist and learned that he was out past his court-imposed curfew.
During a search after arrest, officers located:
- Imitation firearm (BB gun)
- 1 gram of crystal methamphetamine
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs
- Failure to comply with undertaking
The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with the following conditions to remain in residence between the hours of 9:00pm and 6:00am, except for medical emergencies.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court August 14, 2023.
Weapons Seized
Safety for our community and officers is the most important priority for the Peterborough Police Service.
Between June 30th, 2023, and July 6th, 2023, officers have seized seven weapons. Six were imitation firearms and one was a loaded handgun.
