Robbery Suspect Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is looking a robbery suspect after an incident early Thursday morning.
At approximately 3:45am on July 4, 2024, police were called by employees to the business in the McDonnel Street and Aylmer Steet area. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman brandishing a knife entered the store demanded cash from the employee, then left the store on foot with the cash, several gift cards, cigarettes, and food items. Officers conducted a search of the area but did not locate the suspect. The employee was not injured.
The suspect was described to police as:
- Female, Caucasian
- Approximately 5’7 with a medium build
- Wearing a grey hoodie with the hood pulled up tight around her head and face, grey pants with a black backpack

Break and Enter Suspects Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a break and enter at a business in Peterborough.
At approximately 3:00am on Thursday, July 4, 2024, officers were called to the business in the Charlotte Street and Bethune Street area. Upon arrival, officers noticed that the front door had been smashed and there were items on the ground. They further learned that two people had been spotted running away from the area. Officers, including K9 checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
They were described to police as:
- A male wearing grey and black clothing with a hood up and a backpack
- A female wearing a grey hoodie and a red or pink backpack

Weapons Arrest
A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing a charge after an incident Wednesday evening.
At approximately 9:30pm on July 3, 2024, officers on general patrol in the Charlotte Street and George Street North area were notified by several pedestrians about a man walking on the sidewalk yelling and brandishing a hatchet. Officers were able to catch up to the man at the corner of Simcoe Street and George Street North. The man was approached at gunpoint and asked to put down the weapon, the man complied and was taken into custody without incident. Officers seized the hatchet.
As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court August 13, 2024.
