Police Investigation – Update - Assault Arrest
A 45-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident at Millennium Park in Peterborough Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:00pm on July 24, 2024, officers were called to the park about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had been stabbed by another woman. A woman matching the description of the suspect was located in the area and taken into custody. During a search after arrest, officers located five knives on the suspect. The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 25, 2024.

Assault Suspects Sought
Peterborough Police are investigating after an incident early Thursday morning.
At approximately 12:16am on July 25, 2024, officers were called to the Hunter Street East and Mark Street area about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had been walking home when he passed a group of four young people. As he passed them, one spat at him and then when he confronted them another knocked his turban off his head and stepped on it. Another male tried to intervene and both men were struck in the head with pop cans. The initial victim was treated at the scene by EMS.
It’s also believed the group of young people is connected to the theft of soft drinks reported at a nearby convenience store (Hunter Street East and Burnham Street) about 11:50pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
The suspects are described as four males wearing dark clothing.
This incident is being classified as a hate crime.

Impaired Arrest
A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Wednesday morning.
At approximately 10:30am on July 24, 2024, officers were called to the Mountain Ash Road and Cameron Street area after report of a vehicle colliding with several parked vehicles and a front porch. As officers were arriving to that area, another call for service came in about a similar vehicle in the Water Street and Hunter Street area. Upon speaking with the driver of the vehicle, officers noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Failure to stop after accident
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court September 3, 2024.
