Fraud Arrest
A 24-year-old Toronto man is facing charges after an incident involving a fake prescription.
On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, officers were called about a fraudulent prescription that was submitted at a pharmacy in the Lansdowne Street East and Ashburnham Drive area. When a man returned to the store to pick up the prescription, he was taken into custody without incident. During the arrest he gave officers false identification.
As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Toronto man was arrested and charged with:
- Personation with Intent - intent to obtain property (identity fraud)
- Use, deals, acts on forged document
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, July 18, 2024.
Disturbance Incident
The Peterborough Police Service is looking for information after a large disturbance near the train bridge near George Street and Dalhousie Street on Wednesday night.
At approximately 9:00pm on July 17, 2024, officers were called to the area about a fight between groups of young people. Upon arrival by police most of the young people fled. One person was located with a cut on their arm and was treated by EMS at the scene.

Sudden Death
The Peterborough Police Service was called to a sudden death at a Peterborough residence on Wednesday.
Around 12:45pm on July 17, 2024, officers were called to the area of Albert Street and Park Street. The death of a 59-year-old male is now a Coroner’s investigation.
There is no foul play suspected at this time.
Found Drugs
A large quantity of drugs was turned in to Peterborough Police on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 after a bag was found in a doorway.
Upon inspection, the bag contained 93grams of suspected fentanyl which would be worth about $14,000.
