Suspicious Vehicle
The Peterborough Police Service has been made aware of an incident involving a suspicious vehicle.
At approximately 4:30pm on January 17, 2024, officers were called to the area of Crawford Drive and Johnston Drive. Upon arrival, they learned that two children, aged 7 and 5, had been approached in a parking lot by a vehicle, the male driver gave them crackers before driving away. No one was injured.
The male is described as:
- Having a beard
- Wearing a black hat
The vehicle is described as:
- Red car

Fail to Stop Incident
The Peterborough Police Service is looking for a vehicle that failed to stop for a traffic stop Wednesday evening.
At approximately 8:40pm on January 17, 2024, an officer on general patrol spotted a vehicle with the wrong license plate in the Aylmer Street and Sherbrooke Street area. However, when the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop the vehicle fled. The officer did not pursue. The in-car camera system in the police cruiser captured the vehicle, which is described as: (image below for assistance):
- Black BMW
- Sedan
- Dark tinted windows

Stolen Vehicle Arrest
A 49-year-old County of Peterborough man is facing charges after failing to return a rental vehicle.
At approximately 4:30pm on January 17, 2024, officers were made aware that a customer had rented a vehicle on January 9, 2024 and had failed to return it as per the contract. The company made several further attempts to have the vehicle returned before reporting it stolen.
Officers located where the man was living and with the assistance of Peterborough County OPP, the man was taken into custody early Thursday morning (January 18, 2024).
As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old County of Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court February 6, 2024.
