Stolen Vehicle Arrest
Two young people are facing several charges each after an incident Wednesday morning.
At approximately 10:30am on December 6, 2023, officers were called to a wooded area near Highway 7a and Highway 115 about an abandoned vehicle that had been reported stolen the day before. Upon arrival, officers received information that two people had fled on foot. K9 Gryphon was deployed and conducted a track for just over a kilometre while officers conducted a ground search of the area. As a result, two males were located on a nearby farm property and were taken into custody without incident.
A 12-year-old Oshawa male was arrested and charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Property obtained by crime – over $5000
- Fail to Comply with Release Order X2
The accused is currently bound by a release order with the following conditions to remain in his residence at all times and not to operate or have care and control of a motor vehicle.
The accused appeared in court yesterday and was remanded in custody. He will appear in court today, December 7, 2023.
A 16-year-old Pickering male was arrested and charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - in Canada
- Fail to Comply with Sentence
The accused is currently bound by a youth probation order with the following condition to not possess any weapons.
The accused was released on an undertaking and will appear in court December 18, 2023.
The Peterborough Police Service would like to thank the OPP officers in the area who assisted with the investigation.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Code, the name of a young person cannot be released.
Theft Arrest
A 28-year-old Peterborough woman is facing several theft charges after an incident Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 12:00pm on December 6, 2023, officers were called to a business in the McDonnel Street and Aylmer Street area about an unwanted person. Upon arrival, officers learned that the woman had been disruptive and then took several items before leaving. Officers were able to locate a woman matching the description given to police outside the store and took her into custody. During the investigation it was determined that the same woman was connected to five online reports from the past two weeks at the same location.
As a result, a 28-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Theft under $5000 X6
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on December 19, 2023.
