Impaired Arrest
A 31-year-old Hastings man is facing impaired charges after an incident Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 2:00pm on August 9, 2023, officers received a call from a concerned resident about a possible impaired driver in the area of Brock Street and Aylmer Street. Officers attended the area and located a vehicle matching the description given to police several blocks away. They conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Aylmer Street and Simcoe Street and noticed signs of impairment with the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Hastings man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
The accused was given an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court September 5, 2023.
Mischief/Theft Arrest
A 28-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after two incidents Wednesday evening.
At approximately 10:00pm on August 9, 2023, officers were called about a smashed window at a security kiosk at the King Street parkade. Upon arrival officers started searching the area for a woman matching the description given to police. During their search, they learned of a second incident where a couple in the Charlotte Street and George Street area was trying to help the woman when she grabbed a significant amount of money from the couple and fled the area. Officers located the suspect a short time later in the Aylmer Street and McDonnel Street area and took her into custody. The money was returned to the victims.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5000
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
- Mischief Under $5000
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, August 10, 2023.
Assault Arrest
A 21-year-old Peterborough man is facing an assault charge after an incident Wednesday evening.
At approximately 7:00pm on August 9, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Armour Road and Parkhill Road East area about a domestic incident. Upon arrival officers were informed of a second call to the area with regards to the same man, officers located the accused outside of the residence and attempted to calm him down however, the man continued to display aggressive behaviour. Officers attempted to take him into custody and during the arrest the suspect spat at an officer.
As a result, a 21-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault a peace officer
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court September 12, 2023.
