Warrant/Weapons Arrest

A 39-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant is facing new charges after he was located by police.

At approximately 11:30am on Friday, October 13, 2023, K9 officer Wentworth and PSD Gryphon were on general patrol on Hunter Street West when they spotted a man wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with probation. They followed the man into an alleyway, and he was taken into custody without incident with the assistance of an officer on bike patrol. During a search after arrest, a replica handgun (image below) was located on the suspect and seized along with items and credit cards not belonging to the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:

Carry concealed prohibited device or ammunition
Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Use of credit card

The accused is currently bound by a lifetime prohibition order with the following condition to not possess any prohibited firearm including replica firearms.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on October 31, 2023.

Break and Enter Arrest

A 41-year-old Campbellford man is facing charges after an incident early Saturday morning.

At approximately 3:30am on October 14, 2023, officers were notified of an alarm at a business on Neal Drive. K9 Officer Cowie and PSD Isaac arrived on scene and noticed that a door had been forced open and items from the building were scattered about. They started a track for the suspect and after about a half kilometre PSD Isaac located a person moving around the outside of another business. Using PSD Isaac for a bark and hold along with a drawn conducted energy weapon, officers were able to take the suspect into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Campbellford man was arrested and charged with:

Break, Enter a place - with intent to commit indictable offence
Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

Mischief Arrest

A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after several incidents in Peterborough early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:30am on October 15, 2023, officers were called to the area of Brealey Drive and Lansdowne Street after a report someone had thrown a rock at a moving car. Upon arrival to the area officers were shown the rocks believed to be thrown. During the investigation another call for service came in about a man throwing a brick at a parked vehicle. K9 Officer Cowie and PSD Isaac were in the area and located a male matching the description given to police behind a vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the suspect after arrest officers located two knives.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Mischief - destroys or damages property X2
Carrying concealed weapon
Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court October 15, 2023.

Assault Arrest

A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 10:00pm on October 14, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Hunter Street and Aylmer Street area for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that a female had been struck, had items thrown at her and was verbally threatened during a dispute.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Assault – Spousal
Assault with a Weapon - Spousal
Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal
Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court October 15, 2023.

Assault Arrest

A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a domestic incident early Sunday morning.

At approximately 3:00am on October 15, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Otonabee Drive and Middlefield Road area. Upon arrival, officers learned that a verbal dispute had escalated, and the suspect brandished a machete at the victim and shoved her.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Assault with a Weapon - Spousal
Assault – Spousal
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

It was further learned that there was a warrant for the suspect’s arrest in another province.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court October 15, 2023.

Assault Arrest

A 39-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a domestic incident early Saturday morning.

At approximately 12:50am on October 14, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Brock Street and Aylmer Street area about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned there had been a physical altercation between family members as well as verbal threats. Officers attempted to arrest the suspect however, he brandished a broken plate at officers and resisted. During the arrest, a conducted energy weapon was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Assault
Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
Resist Peace Officer

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on October 14, 2023.
