Fraud Arrest
A 47-year-old North York man is facing a fraud charge after an incident involving a local business.
In late January 2023, the business filed an online report with Peterborough Police about a fraud that had occurred. A customer had purchased and paid online for a large TV. The item was sent to the customer who said that it was damaged upon receiving it. It was arranged that the item would be exchanged, and a courier picked up the broken TV. The customer then decided they would prefer a refund and one was issued. When the broken TV arrived at the business it was determined not to be the item that was sold, and police were contacted.
Through investigation officers secured a warrant to search the customer’s residence and located and seized the original TV sold.
As a result, a 47-year-old North York man was arrested and charged with:
- Fraud under $5000
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court March 28 2023.
