Shooting Investigation - Update
The Peterborough Police Service continues to investigate a shooting that happened early Saturday morning. Further information will be released when available.

Assault/Weapons/Domestic Arrest
Several people are facing charges after an incident Friday evening.
At approximately 10:30pm on June 14, 2024, an officer on general patrol came upon two men assaulting another man with a baton and kicking the victim in the area of Charlotte Street and George Street. The officer drew their Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) and took the two men into custody. During a search after arrest, officers located a knife on one of the suspects and the baton nearby. Through investigation, it was learned that the 55-year-old male victim in this case was also involved in a domestic incident prior to the assault. The victim was examined by EMS at the scene.
The victim was then arrested and charged in connection with the domestic incident:
- Assault-Spousal
He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in in court on July 23, 2024.
As a result of the investigation into the assault,
A 17-year-old Hastings male was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with A Weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 29, 2024.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Code, the name of a young person cannot be released.
A 23-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 23, 2024.
K9 Track Arrest
A 40-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Saturday night.
At approximately 9:50pm on June 15, 2024, officers were called to a business in the George Street South and Romaine Street area about a suspicious man trying to get into the building. Upon arrival, officers learned that some damage had been done to a window, railing and siding. As they were investigating another resident approached officers and said that a man had taken items off their front porch. K9 Gryphon was called in to complete a track and lead officers to a man matching the description given to police on the back porch of a nearby residence. The man was taken into custody without incident. Officers located the items taken from the other resident’s porch.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Mischief Under $ 5,000
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
- Trespassing at Night
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in WASH (Weekend and Statutory Holiday) court on June 16, 2024.
Sexual Assault Arrest
A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident at a Peterborough business.
At approximately 9:50pm on June 15, 2024, officers were called to the business in the Water Street and Charlotte Street area after a male refused to leave when asked by security. Upon arrival, officers learned that the male had inappropriately touched a female patron despite several requests to stop.
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Sexual Assault
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 23, 2024.
Robbery Suspect Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a robbery at a business Saturday night.
At approximately 10:40pm on June 15, 2024, officers were called to the business at McDonnel Street and Aylmer Street about a robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had entered the store to purchase some items, counts out the cash for payment and once the clerk opens the till brandishes a knife and demands more money. Two other customers entered the store and the suspect fled with cash, lottery tickets and the other items.
The male is described as (photo for assistance):
- White male
- Blue ball cap
- Black coat with the hood up
- Grey polo shirt underneath
- Red shirt under neath the grey shirt
Officers canvassed the area, but the man was not located.
