Impaired
A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident early Saturday morning.
At approximately 2:20a.m. on August 19, 2023, officers were called to the area of Ashburnham Drive and Maniece Avenue about a possible motor vehicle collision. An officer on general patrol arrived in the area minutes later and found a vehicle had struck a concrete light pole knocking down the hydro lines. During the investigation, officers noticed signs of possible impairment with the driver.
As a result, a 24-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court September 5, 2023.
The road was closed for several hours while the pole and hydro lines were repaired.
Impaired Arrest
A 43-year-old GTA man is facing impaired charges after an incident Saturday morning.
At approximately 3:00pm on August 19, 2023, officers were involved in an investigation involving a motorist driving in the area of Dalhousie Street and George Street. Upon speaking with the driver, they observed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old GTA man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – drugs
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court September 12, 2023.
Break and Enter Suspect Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a break and enter call to a Peterborough residence.
At approximately 10:15pm on Friday, August 18, 2023, officers were called to a break and enter in progress at a residence in the Brown Street and Monaghan Road area. Upon arrival, officers learned that there were people in the home at the time when they heard a noise from the back of the home. No one in the home was injured and it’s believed the suspect may have fled with an item from a tent in the backyard.
The suspect was described to police as:
- white male
- wearing all black clothing
- black gloves
- approximately 40 years old
Officers, including K9 searched the area, however, the suspect was not located.
