Weapons Dangerous Arrest
A 33-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Friday evening.
At approximately 8:30pm on April 14, 2023, officers were called to the area of Bethune Street and King Street about a man in the intersection waving a knife. Upon arrival, the man was no longer in the intersection, however, officers located him a short distance away along with the knife which the man had in a bag. Officers seized the knife.
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court May 10, 2023.
Sexual Assault Incident
Peterborough Police Service is investigating after an incident at a north end business on Friday evening.
On April 14, 2023, a female had reported that she had been in the Walmart on Chemong Road around 6:45pm and noticed a male following her, then standing extremely close and trying to take inappropriate pictures from below her dress.
The suspect was described to police as:
- Black male
- 5'7"-5'10"
- Longer face
- Stubble on face
- Short black hair
- Approximately 30 years old
- Ball cap
- Red t-shirt
- Dark wash jeans
The store is cooperating with the investigation.

Collision – Hilliard and Langton
Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a pedestrian and a vehicle collided Friday evening.
At approximately 9:30pm on April 14, 2023, officers were called to the intersection of Hilliard Street and Langton Street where a 20-year-old male skateboarder was pinned under a truck. The truck had to be lifted off of the male. He was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre before being transported by air to a Toronto hospital.

Threats Arrest
A 41-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Friday evening.
At approximately 10:15pm on April 14, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Anson Street and Water Street area about two people being threatened. Upon arrival, officers learned that during a verbal dispute between two groups a male was verbally threatened including being told that the suspect had a firearm.
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Utter threats - cause death or bodily harm
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court May 2, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 52-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Friday evening.
At approximately 11:40pm on April 14, 2023, officers were called by a concerned resident to Hooton Drive in Cavan Monaghan about a vehicle in the ditch. Upon arrival, officers noticed obvious signs of impairment with the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court May 4, 2023.
Drug Offences Arrest
A 44-year-old Peterborough man is facing drug charges after an incident Saturday morning.
At approximately 9:15am on April 15, 2023, officers on general patrol conducted a traffic stop in a parking lot in the Dublin Street and Aylmer Street area. Officers learned that the driver was currently bound by a probation order to not to be in the driver’s seat of a vehicle and was also under a 5-year weapon prohibition order. During a search of the suspect, officers located a conducted energy weapon, drugs, cash, and drug paraphernalia.
- 123 Hydro morphine pills
- 2.3 grams of suspected Crystal meth
- 30.2 grams of suspected Cocaine
- 56 grams of suspected crack Cocaine
As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court April 15, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 40-year-old Belleville man is facing impaired charges after a traffic stop early Sunday morning.
At approximately 3:15am on April 16, 2023, officers on patrol spotted a vehicle to the wrong way on George Street North. Officers activated their lights and conducted a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, the officers noticed obvious signs of impairment. A further check of the driver revealed he was a suspended driver
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive wrong way - one-way traffic (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit (Highway Traffic Act)
- Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court May 3, 2023.
