Stolen Vehicle Arrest
A 43-year-old Peterborough woman is facing a number of charges after an incident Thursday morning.
At approximately 8:15am on September 28, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Hunter Street and Aylmer Street area. Upon arrival, they learned that an apartment had been entered and a vehicle taken from the parking lot. The vehicle was shown to be in a parking lot near Brock Street and Water Street. Officers attended the area and located a parked vehicle matching the description given to police. When officers approached the vehicle they noticed a woman was passed out inside and the vehicle was still running. Officers were able to wake the woman and noticed signs of impairment. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. It was also learned there were two warrants for her arrest.
As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:
- Break, Enter and Commit
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Operation While Impaired
- Fail to Comply with Probation
The accused is currently bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
Officers further determined the accused was a suspect in four shoplifting incidents between June and August 2023 and as a result, she has also been charged with:
- Theft Under $5000 X4
- Fail to Comply with Probation X4
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on September 28, 2023, and is scheduled to appear in court today, September 29, 2023.
Theft Arrest
A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 1:30pm on September 28, 2023, officers received a call about a man breaking a bike lock and taking a bike from a bike rack in the George Street and Simcoe Street area. Officers arrived in the area and were given a description of the suspect. A short time later officers on patrol in the Brock Street and Water Street area spotted a man matching the description given to police. He was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation it was learned that there were two warrants for his arrest.
As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:
- Theft Under $5000
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, September 29, 2023.
Robbery Arrest
A 53-year-old Peterborough man is facing a number of charges after an incident Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 11:30am on September 28, 2023, officers were called to a business in the Sherbrooke Street and George Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had entered the store and while leaving with several unpaid items threatened an employee. Several hours later, officers with the Street Crime Unit spotted a man matching the description given to police in the McDonnel Street and Stewart Street area and he was taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Robbery with Threat of Violence
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking
The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with the following condition to stay away from that store.
Further investigation revealed that the accused was being sought in connection with more than a dozen other thefts from the same business between December 31, 2022 and September 26, 2023. As a result, he was further charged with:
- Theft Under $5000 X13
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking X2
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, September 29, 2023.
