Assault Arrest
Four people are facing charges after an incident Thursday evening.
At approximately 9:30pm on July 6, 2023, an officer on general patrol was flagged down by a security guard at Millennium Park. Upon stopping, the officer learned that the security guard had asked a woman to leave the area and as the woman was being escorted out of the park another woman on a bicycle came up to the guard and started to yell, punch and spit at the guard. While taking the statement the suspect attempted to leave the area, the officer followed and took the female into custody. After the officer put the suspect in their police vehicle, they were swarmed by several other people attempting to interfere with the arrest, including one woman who attempted to punch the officer. Other officers arrived and several more people were taken into custody.
As a result,
A 57-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with A Weapon
- Obstruct Peace Officer
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 25, 2023.
A 62-year-old Marmora woman was arrested and charged with:
- Obstruct Peace Officer
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 25, 2023.
A 35-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer
- Obstruct Peace Officer
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 25, 2023.
A 41-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer
- Obstruct Peace Officer
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 25, 2023.
Pedestrian Struck
A 21-year-old driver is facing a charge of failing to yield to pedestrians after a collision at Lansdowne Street and Park Street Thursday evening.
Officers were called to the area about 9:15pm on July 6, 2023. The pedestrian was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of minor injuries.
