The Peterborough Police Service is issuing a notice for public safety after the release of a Peterborough man.
20-year-old Austin DeMaeyer of Selwyn Township was sentenced and released today in connection with an incident on a Peterborough trail in June 2022. As part of his sentence, he was placed on a three-year probation order for failing to comply with a previous probation order to not possess any weapons. DeMaeyer has been in custody since his arrest in June 2022.
Given the nature of the crimes, which includes a history of targeting women, we have chosen to release his name and photo. This release is being made in accordance with the provisions of the Ontario Police Service Act.
