Sexual Assault Suspect Sought

Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a sexual assault was reported early Sunday morning.

The incident happened between 3:00 and 5:00am on Sunday, April 9, 2023, in the area of Monaghan Road and Sherbrooke Street when a female was approached by a male who was not known to her.  They had a short conversation and as she was leaving the area was physically assaulted.  The victim escaped and was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.

The suspect is described to police as:

• White
• 20-22 years old
• 6’ tall
• Average build
• Dark brown hair
• Black NY hat
• Blue & Black jacket
• Dark blue jeans
• White & Black Jordan branded shoes

Robbery Arrest

A 28-year-old Peterborough woman is facing 19 charges in connection with six separate incidents. 

On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, an officer on general patrol spotted the woman and further learned she was wanted on a warrant for robbery with violence and fail to comply with probation in connection with an incident at a store in the George Street North and Hunter Street West area.

As a result, a 28-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrant and charged with:

• Robbery with Violence
• Assault
• Theft Under $5000 X5
• Fail to Comply with Undertaking X2
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order X10

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 11, 2023. 

Robbery Arrest

A 42-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident at a store in Peterborough Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 5:15pm on April 9, 2023, officers were called to the store in the George Street North and Rink Street area.  Upon arrival, officers learned a store clerk found a male trying to access a secure area. The clerk directed them back to the store and the male continued shopping.  A short time later the male started yelling and shoved the clerk fleeing the store without paying for the items.  Officers located a man matching the description given to police a short distance away and took him into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old Peterborough man was charged with:

• Robbery with Violence
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Monday, April 10, 2023. 

Assault with a Weapon Arrest

A 60-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges in connection with a domestic incident. 

At approximately 8:30pm on Thursday, April 6, 2023, officers were called to a residence about a physical altercation between two family members where one of the men was punched several times and had a knife thrown at him.  The victim was treated at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, a 60-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

• Assault with a weapon
• Assault

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court May 4, 2023.

Possession of Stolen Property Arrest

A 22-year-old Oshawa man is facing charges in connection with a vehicle stop. 

At approximately 6:15pm on Thursday, April 6, 2023, officers on general patrol stopped to check on a parked vehicle in the area of River Road and Whitla Street in Peterborough.  During the investigation, officers learned that the driver had recently purchased the vehicle, discovered the license plate on the vehicle had been reported stolen while another license plate found in the vehicle had also been reported stolen. Officers then located marijuana in the vehicle. 

As a result, a 22-year-old Oshawa man was arrested and charged with:

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada x2
• Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner (Highway Traffic Act)
• Use plate not authorized for vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
• Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court April 20, 2023.
