Stunt Driving
An 18-year-old Kanata man is facing stunt driving charges after a traffic stop Saturday evening.
At approximately 10:30pm on December 2, 2023, an officer on traffic duty recorded a vehicle travelling 129km/h in a 50km/h zone in the area of Water Street and Carnegie Avenue and conducted a traffic stop.
As a result, the driver was charged with:
- Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit
- Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed
The driver was given a 30-day license suspension and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.
Impaired Driving Arrest
A 71-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 2:30pm on December 2, 2023, officers were called about a possible impaired driver. An officer attended the area and located the vehicle in question at a residence and spoke with driver. During the conversation, the officer noted signs of impairment.
As a result, a 71-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court December 19, 2023.
Assault Arrest
A 26-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Saturday night.
At approximately 11:00pm on December 2, 2023, officers were called to a residence about a possible assault on a female victim. Upon arrival, they learned that the male was actually the victim and had been punched and had items thrown at him. The male was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Assault – Spousal
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on January 2, 2024.
Assault Arrest
A 17-year-old Peterborough male is facing charges after an incident early Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:50am on December 3, 2023, officers were called to a residence after a report of an altercation between two people. Upon arrival, officers learned that a verbal argument had escalated and an 18-year-old female victim was struck in the head.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:
- Assault – Spousal
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court December 18, 2023.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Code, the name of a young person cannot be released.
Stolen Vehicle
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a resident reported his truck and ATV had been stolen from his driveway.
On December 3, 2023, the owner of the vehicle called police to report the vehicle had been stolen from the Ravenwood Drive and Ireland Drive area. It’s believed the theft happened sometime between 9:00pm on December 2, 2023 and 8:30am on December 3, 2023. Along with the ATV which had been loaded in the truck bed, the truck had been packed with hunting equipment, including a crossbow and hunting knives.

Break and Enter - Township of Cavan-Monaghan
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a break and enter at a business in the Township of Cavan-Monaghan.
On November 29, 2023, officers were made aware of the break and enter when a friend, checking on the property, noticed signs of forced entry and that the place had been ransacked. Further investigation revealed a large amount of money and jewellery had been taken.
