K9 Calendar
Are you ready for 12 months of the working dogs of the Peterborough Police Service?
The Peterborough Police Service is excited to announce its first K9 Calendar is now available!
The calendar features photos of the K9 Unit -- PSD Isaac, PSD Gryphon, PSD Mag and their human handlers PC Bob Cowie and PC Dillon Wentworth – along with Facility Dog Pixie and her handler Alice Czitrom.
It includes the latest statistics on the work of both K9 Unit and Facility Dog Pixie in Victim Services as well as a trip down memory lane with a section dedicated to past Police Service Dogs and handlers.
The K9 Unit was officially formed in 1997 with two pairings. In 2020, the Service added a facility dog and in 2021 the unit further grew with the addition of a third canine officer.

Quotes
“This project has been in the works since January. We feel it’s a neat way to connect with our community and share the great work our canine officers and their handlers do each shift.” says Tim Farquharson, Acting Chief, Peterborough Police Service. “It’s also important for us to give back to our community. As such the proceeds from the sale of the calendars will go to the Peterborough Humane Society’s Animal Care Centre.”
“We are so thankful for community partnerships such as this one with Peterborough Police Service. We are excited to not only have the new Peterborough Animal Care Centre highlighted in the 2023 Calendar but for the funds to also be supporting Our Pet Project capital campaign to build the new Centre.” shared Shawn Morey, Executive Director, Peterborough Humane Society
The Peterborough Animal Care Centre
The Peterborough Animal Care Centre is set to be complete before the end of 2022 with a soft opening in January 2023. This innovative Centre will host three programs under one roof: a publicly accessible Spay and Neuter Clinic, an Education and Adoption Centre, and a cutting-edge Dog Rehabilitation Centre in partnership with the Ontario SPCA & Humane Society. It will be a community hub and feature an off-leash dog park, private event space, and patio.
Thanks to our community partners at the Peterborough Humane Society for their support of this project.
