Attempted Murder Arrest
A 29-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a hit and run earlier this week.
At approximately 4:30pm on Thursday, September 6, 2024, officers with the Investigative Services Unit located a suspect in the George Street and Townsend Street area and took him into custody. It has been determined that the suspect and the victim in the hit and run are known to each other.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Attempt to commit murder
- Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Operation while prohibited
- Fail to Comply with Probation
During the investigation it was learned that the accused was a prohibited driver and bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, September 6, 2024.

Arson Incident Arrest - UPDATE
The Peterborough Police Service has made an arrest in connection with a residential fire in January 2024.
At approximately 12:20am on January 27, 2024, the fire at the residence on Margaret Avenue was spotted and called in. The home had just been sold and was empty at the time. No one was injured in the fire.
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, members with the Investigative Services Unit took a 71-year-old Omemee man into custody and charged him with:
- Arson - Damage to Property
- Arson for Fraudulent Purpose
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court October 15, 2024.
