Assault Arrest
A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after an incident Thursday afternoon.
On June 8, 2023, officers were made aware of a domestic incident between a male and a female in which the woman was physically assaulted and verbally threatened by her partner. During the exchange the male would not allow her to leave their bedroom. The female managed to escape and contact police.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault – Spousal
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal
- Forcible Confinement
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court July 4, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 32-year-old City of Kawartha Lakes man is facing an impaired charge after an incident early Thursday morning.
At approximately 2:30am on June 8, 2023, officers received several calls about a collision and possible impaired driver in the Dobbin Road and Lansdowne Street West area. Upon arrival officers located a vehicle matching the description provided to police but no one was in the immediate area. Officers continued to search and located a male matching the description given to police a short distance away. He was taken into custody and taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for assessment. During investigation the man was uncooperative with officers, emergency personnel and health care providers.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old City of Kawartha Lakes man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Fail to remain (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 27, 2023.
