Warrant Arrest
A 29-year-old Peterborough man is in custody on warrants after a foot pursuit Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 3:40pm on June 22, 2023, officers spotted a man wanted on warrants for unauthorized possession of a weapon and failure to comply with release and prohibition orders. When officers attempted to stop the man, he took off running through a field and a park. Officers followed for a distance before losing sight of him. K9 Gryphon was deployed to help track the man and took officers to a residence in the Milroy Drive and Rowberry Boulevard area. As a result of the track, officers conducted a door knock and the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody.
A 29-year-old Peterborough was arrested on the strength of the warrants and is being held in custody. The accused will appear in court today, June 23, 2023.
Assault Arrest
A 38-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 2:00pm on June 22, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the Bensfort Road and Sherrin Avenue area about a disturbance. Upon arrival officers learned that during a dispute between family members one member was verbally threatened, choked and threatened with a knife. The male victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke, suffocate or strangle
- Assault with A Weapon
- Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, June 23, 2023.
License Plate/ Driver License Renewal
A reminder to renew your license plates and driver's license. This is still a requirement in Ontario and failing to do so could result in a $110 fine.
The newly installed Peterborough Police In-Car Camera System includes Automatic License Plate Readers. In the past week, since the launch of the system, almost 20,000 notifications have come through about expired plates.
